The Tobacco

The tobaccos that are used for Swedish snus are sun dried at the tobacco farm and brought to the factory in big, compressed blocks. Once there, the blocks are fed into a large grinder and sifted until it reaches the specific texture. After grinding, the ground tobacco is placed in a large steam tumbler and cured for up to a few hours then transferred into large flavoring vats. Here, natural and artificial flavorings are mixed in a cool, controlled environment and held for up to two weeks to allow the flavorings to mix with the tobaccos. Then it’s packaged and left to rest in large “cool rooms” that are maintained at about 4 degrees Celsius for another 2 weeks. The only time that the snus is touched by human hands is prior to grinding. After that, it’s never touched again until you open the can and enjoy!
